Value of the Auto Correct option in MS Office
මා හට යම්කිසි දෙයක් ඉංග්රීaසියෙන් යතුරුකරණය කරන විට
“You” –> ‘U’, “Why” –> ‘y’
වැනි ලෙස සමහරක් වදන් කෙටියෙන් ලියන්න පුරුදුවී සිටිනව. මේ විදිහට ලිපි ලිවුවහම පොඩ්ඩක් අවුල් නෙ. ඉතින් මම පොඩ්ඩක් මේ අවුල මගහරවා ගන්න ක්රුමයක් මතක් කලා. එතකොට තමයි මට Auto Correct options මතක් වුනේ. ඒකෙ ලේසියෙන්ම මේ අවුල විසදනව. තියෙන්නෙ මාරු කරන්න ඕනි වදන් දෙක යතුරුකරණය කරල ඇතුලත් කරන්න විතරයි. ඕගොල්ලන්ටත් මේ ගැටළුව තියෙනවනම් මේක අත්හදා බලන්න.
I have a problem in typing in some large document such as letter, Article, memo etc. I’m typing short letters for some meaningful words such as ‘U’ for “You”, “da” for “The”, ‘Y’ for “Why” etc. Then I had reminded the solution for this case. Then I found Auto Correct option in MS Office applications. It’s very easy to use this case. Because only have to add replaced word to the application and when I type the short code it automatically convert to the meaningful word. If you also have those kind of problem try this.

I hate to pour cold water on this but be very careful with any kind of grammar correcting process on Microsoft applications. Its actually famous for being one of the worst. Ive had first hand experience with marks being cut off on my writing projects at uni because MS Word didnt detect a lot of typing errors.

Definitely. Their interface has improved immensely from 2003. A lot of their features are really good. Occasionally though those features dont work like their supposed to. And most of their advance features arent that useful to the average keyboard tapper. Personally I prefer OpenOffice.
Sorry about the English text. Im still not completely used to typing with the Sinhala XP pack and it would take me hours to type this in Sinhala.
