මේ මාධ්‍ය හමුව කවුරුත් දන්නා දෙයක් කියල මම සිතනව. නමුත් මේ මාධ්‍ය හමුවෙන් ඇත්තටම සිදුවුනේ කුමක්ද ? ඇත්තම කියනව නම් සිදුවුනේ අනුන් කල දෙයකට ICTA ආයතනය සහ මොරටුව විශ්ව විද්‍යාලය තම නම යොදා මාධ්‍ය දැනුවත් කිරීමය. ඒ ඇයිද කියල කිවුවොත් මොරටුව විශ්ව විද්‍යාලයේ ආතර් සී ක්ලාක් මධ්‍යස්ථානයේ කිහිප දෙනෙක් කලින් Mozilla FireFox සහ Thunder Bird යන මෘදුකාංග සිංහලට හැරවූවත් එය සාර්ථකව නිම කිරීමට හෝ නව වෙළුම් සමග ඉදිරියට කරගෙන යාමට ඔවුන්ට කල නොහැකි විය. මේ නිසා ධනිෂ්ක මහන්සි වී කල මෙම පරිවර්ථනය සමග ඔවුන්ගේ කීර්තිනාමය රැක ගැනීමට විකල්පයක් ලෙස මෙම අවස්ථාව ඔවුනට වැදගත් විය. ඒ තමා Prof. ගිහාන් මහතා “හොට් හොට් බඩු” එසේත් නැතිනම් “මැජික්” ලෙස ඔවුන් කල පරිවර්ථන ඇතුලත් CD තැටියක් පෙන්වා මාධ්‍යවේදීන්ට පොඩි ඉගියක් දුන්නෙ. නමුත් ඔවුන් පෙන්වූ CD එකේ තිබෙන ගිනි නරියා මෘදුකාංගය සිංහලින් නිතුත් වූ ප්‍රථම මෘදුකාංගය ද ? පිළිතුර නම් නැත යන්නයි. ඔවුන් එමගින් කලේ මාධ්‍යවේදීන් මුලා කර ධනිෂ්ක වෙනුවට තම නම මේ තුලට දමා ගැනීමයි.

මා මීට පෙර සහභාගී වූ ශ්රීව ලංකාවේ දේශීය කරණය පිළිබද සාකච්ඡාවකට සහභාගී වූ අවස්ථාවේද ධනිෂ්ක ඇතුළු අපි කණ්ඩායම ගිනි නරියා සිංහල පරිවර්ථන කටයුතු කරගෙන යන බව දැන්වූ වා සේම අනිකුත් මෘදුකාංගද කිහිපදෙනෙක් දේශීය කරණ කටයුතු වල නියැලෙන බව ද අප දැනගත්තෙමු. නමුත් ඒ අවස්ථාවකදී කිසිම දෙයක් නිවැරදි ලෙස අවසාන නොවුනි. හොදම නිදසුන තමා ග්ලොසරිය. දැනට තියෙන ග්ලොසරිය යාවත්කාල කිරීම් කරන්නේද නොමැත. ඒ සඳහා අප ඉදිරිපත් වුවද ඒ සඳහා සහය දෙන්නේද නොමැත. නමුත් ගූගල් සමූහයක් පිහිටුවාගත්තත් එහි වැදගත් දෙයක් සාකච්ඡා වන්නේද අල්ප වශයෙනි.
මට මෙම අවස්ථාවට සහභාගි වූ පසු මට හැගී ගියේ ඇස් නොපෙනෙන පුද්ගලයින් ද ICTA ආයතනය තුල සිටින බවයි. එනම් සියළු දෙනාටම පෙනෙන බැනරයද නිවරරදිව නොමැති බවයි. මෙවැනි දෑ පෞද්ගපික අයතනයන්හී නම් දකින්න නෑ. (පින්තූරය බලන්න කොළ පැහැති වර්ණයෙන් සලකුණු කර ඇති කොටස්)

ඒ වගේම එදින ලබාදුන් පත්‍රිකාවේ දක්නට ඇති කරුණකින් මට හැගී යන්නේ ICTA ආයතනය මේ සැරසෙන්නේ පොදු ජන මුදල් නාස්ති කිරීමට බවය (එම පත්‍රිකා http://picasaweb.google.com/wmharshana/FireFox3SinhalaPressRelease හී ඇත). එනම්

මට නම් සිතෙන්නෙ වෙබ් ගවේශකය වැඩි දියුණු කරන්න ඕනෑ තරම් මෘදුකාංග සංවර්ධකයින් මේ ලෝකෙ ඉන්නව කිය එක වගේම මොසිල්ලා පුජාව (Mozilla Community) ගේ අදහස් හොදටම පුමාණවත් බවය.
ඒ වගේම මූල්ය සහය ?????? මම සිතන්නෙ මේ අය මූල්‍ය සහය දෙන්න යන්නෙ මොසිල්ලා ආයතනයට වෙන්න ඇති.
තාක්ෂණික සහය – හරියට ග්ලොසරියක් කරගෙන යන්නෙ නැතිව තව තාක්ෂණයක් මොකටද ?

නමුත් ධන්ෂ්ක ඔබ කල මෙම සේවාව ශ්‍රී ලාංකිකයෙක් වශයෙන් මා ඉතාම අගය කර සලකනව. ඒ වගේම මෙවැනි අමනුස්ස වැඩ කරන්නන් අප රටේ නැතිවේවා කියා ප්‍රාර්ථනා කරනව.
සත්‍ය තේරුම් ගැනීම කියවන ඔබට බාරයි.

I expect this knows everyone. but actually what happened after this press conference ?
ICTA And University of Moratuwa take the Credits from that work. and It has been announced as they had done. Because of some of the Sir Author C Clark Center in University of Moratuwa had been started that works before and they couldn’t complete as a succeed work/project or they couldn’t do their translations with version upgrades. therefore they used Danishka’s work as they have been done. Prof. Gihan Used simple technique for misunderstand the media people. It is he introduced the CD including Sinhala and Tamil translations. He told this is Magic or Hot Hot tings. but know one knows it is not First Sinhala localized Software. It is a English Software they have been Added their Language pack as a add-on.

When I attend the Sri Lanka Localization meeting one day, I have mentioned about our Mozilla FireFox Translations to them and That time they also doing some translations. but they didn’t solve that duplicating works. best Example is Glossary. They doesn’t maintain and they doesn’t help us to maintain. But They had created Google Group for the Sri Lanka Translations, unfortunately It also not using for reliable discussions.

Actually ICTA didn’t check at least Main Banner which shows everyone. it also have some printing mistakes. (See the Image – Marked in green color) This kind of things not happened in Private Companies.

And also when I read the press release notice, I feel try to ICTA spent the Government financial for unimportant works. (this Notes can be read from http://picasaweb.google.com/wmharshana/FireFox3SinhalaPressRelease.) It is
“The Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka under the instructions of HE the President is providing financial and technological assistance to further develop this web browser and launch it in Tamil Language. Localization has been strong focus area for ICTA and some significant successes have already been achieved in this regards.”

I think there is enough people to further develop the web browser in the world. and also enough ideas in the Mozilla Community.
Financial Assistance ???? I think ICTA try to Donate to the Mozilla Organization.
Technical Assistance — Why they needs tech. Assistant ? at least they didn’t maintain Glossary.
